ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Freezing rain has caused power outages across parts of Michigan with about 8,800 customers affected, including some in Lansing served by the Board of Water and Light. Residents are advised to check their provider’s status and stay 25-feet away from any downed-power lines. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ A new study finds over 60% of residents in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula want fewer wolves because of concerns about livestock, deer, and safety. Researchers from MSU advise the Department of Natural Resources to use non-lethal methods + public input to keep the wolf population balanced. Bridge Michigan
- ➤ Michigan Natural Resources Commission approved changes — expanding underwater spearfishing in parts of Michigan lakes in April, simplifying turkey hunting, and allowing buck take in Liberty and Independence hunts.
