SPORTS NEWS

  • MSU women’s basketball coach Robyn Fralick celebrated her 250th win after the team defeated Illinois on Jan. 4— the milestone highlights her leadership and the program’s progress.  Lansing State Journal
  • No. 3 MSU hockey beat the USNTDP Under-18 team 4-2 in an exhibition game on home ice. Head coach Adam Nightingale praised the strong start (despite missing key players) and said the Spartans will face Ohio State on Jan. 9.  The State News
  • Michigan State football added former UConn offensive lineman Ben Murawski on Sunday, Jan. 4 at 3:55 p.m. He is 6-foot-7 (from Pennsylvania) and will help improve the Spartans’ offensive line following a season with many sacks.  Lansing State Journal
  • Michigan State hosts USC at the Breslin Center today at 8:30 p.m. Fresh off a 58 to 56 loss at Nebraska, the Spartans are favored by 9.5 points while USC misses key guard Rodney Rice (out for the season). The game airs on FS1 and local radio.  Lansing State Journal
  • The Michigan State women’s basketball team fended off Illinois 81-75 on Sunday at Breslin Center to secure their sixth straight win. Rashunda Jones made crucial free throws in the final moments, earning coach Robyn Fralick her 250th career win.  Lansing State Journal
  • Michigan State hockey beat NTDP 4-2 in an exhibition Sunday at Munn Arena. With nine healthy forwards, the Spartans set to resume Big Ten play on Jan. 9-10 — coach Adam Nightingale highlighted fresh talent and improvements after the win.  Lansing State Journal
  • WR Nick Marsh, who caught 100 passes for 1,311 yards and nine touchdowns over two seasons, is transferring from MSU to Indiana’s football team; he has two years of eligibility left and his move was confirmed by his mother + coaching changes at MSU.  Lansing State Journal
