- ➤ Bright murals are being painted around storm drains this summer to educate locals about water pollution. The ArtStorm 2025 project—managed by MSU and WKAR—will finish 17 murals by next month. WKAR
- ➤ A recent census showed that the Kirtland’s warbler population dropped by nearly 700 breeding pairs from earlier counts due to fewer young jack pine trees available as nesting habitat—Michigan officials said the loss threatens the species’ recovery. State experts plan to cut older jack pines and replant seedlings to restore the warbler’s breeding grounds. WKAR

- ➤ East Lansing Police Department will soon use a texting tool that sends a brief survey after non-life-threatening calls so community members can rate their experience + share comments with the department. - ➤ Homes in Lansing now start around $100,000 as the tri-county average price dropped to $266,000 from last year, giving many buyers a chance to pay less than they do in rent.
